Clindamycin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the ribosomal 50S subunit.
May cause adverse effects such as vaginitis, headaches, dizziness, gastrointestinal symptoms (heartburn, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea), dermatological symptoms (rash, exanthema), and hypersensitivity reactions like urticaria.
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to clindamycin.
Safety during pregnancy is uncertain. Use caution during nursing as it is not known if Clindamycin is eliminated in breast milk after topical application.
